I think I can safely say that the Idols this week was quite a half & half.
Some had their good days, while some just can’t quite reach it.
My favourite, Jason Castro, is just too much of a “guitar strumming singer” that singing an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic is just soooooo not him. But, nonetheless, even when given the cold hard truth by Simon, his “awww shucks” personality saved the day for him & I’m sure it made many audiences out there forgive him for his dismal performance earlier today & blame it on poor choice of genre.
For the 1st time in idol history, a performer made a boo boo in front of a live audience. BUT, Brooke being the pure one that she is, trudges thru her mistake & just re-started the song like a true proffesional. I was mighty impressed with her. If me, I would probably just feel utterly wretched & wish I coud just crawl into a worm hole & die or something…
Heck, she even impressed Simon with what she has done. Sure he might not think her vocals are anything special this week, but her was impressed nonetheless & that is a biiiiig plus point that makes up her for her boo boo somewhat.
For me, I thought that she was quite good singing the song. Yeah sure, Loos said it looks like she’s trying to hard, but remember, Sir Webber himself explained to her what the song is supposed to be about & she really took the advice & work on it. The result was the very drama mama performance but nevertheless, believable.
The music is from the musical ‘Evita’ for god’s sake! If you’re not drama when you sing it then you are not doing it justice.
Now, on to my most favourite performance of the night: David Cook.
Yep, the cocky guy.
I’ve never been a fan of him but I’ve gotta admit he sang the song ‘Music of The Nite’ very very well. For a rocker, he really did plunged into that song as broadway as he could. Trust me, I would bash him with the worse comment possible if he destroyed that song even a bit.
Phantom of the Opera is my favourite out of all of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s creation, (oh don’t get me started on how much I love that musical & how I still kick myself for missing the chance, TWICE!, to watch the musical when it was in Spore) and yes, that song that David Cook sung is the same song that I love the most out of all the whole soundtrack. That & ‘All I Ask Of You’.
I must say, he made me swoon when he sang the song.
Like seriously, Swooooooooonnnnnn *faints*…..
And with his looks, he can pass for the Phantom himself lahh..
Syesha? I did not get a chance to see her perform but judging from the summary of the performances she seems to have done ok.
Archuletta? Obviously he would pass this week with ease coz’ DUH, he’s been singing with the broadway kinda style ever since he started in the competition!
And trust me, as long as he still has the full back up & support of the Aunties, Gays & Phaedophiles he would still be around.
Guess we would just have to find out tomorrow then huh…

yup, he will pass on! i like the two Davids! but yesterday’s version, quite poppy lah. See, David Cook proves that even with his rocker style, he can pull a broadway song…it’s a competition! no excuses for not trying to get out of their comfort zone…
