I watched a World Renowned Artist perform

Posted by: aznurz on: November 13, 2007

Yesterday I watched the debut performance of a world renowned artist & her band.

The Artist

(world renowned for me at least)

That Artist is …….. My Little Sister!!!!

THe wayang cina & her angklungs

Yes, that cute lil’ button nosed monkey on mine!

Long story short, her school angklung group was picked to do a 2set performance @ the Esplanade, The Concourse. Prior to the day she was already bugging me incessantly to take leave lah, half day lah whatever lah to come & wtach her 2day performance.

I told her see 1st lah, I got lots of work to do, etc & all that jazz coz’ I didn’t want to promise her something I can’t deliver ya know. My job is not exactly time accomodating. But made it I did, & I was glad I did coz’ my parents can’t make it for the performances.

All I can say is, there is nothing like watching kiddie perform to make you remenisce about the younger days in school & chuckle in delight at the little “oops” mistakes & restlessness of the young kids. My sis included. She who yawned as big as her mouth can open during the 2nd set of the performance… :P

When it was the 1st set, you can actually see everyone of them kids were very alert, attentive & super on. Come 2nd set, one by one kasi muka lentok, muka boring & there were more fidgeting.

They a medley of a few diffrent songs, ranging from ‘Munerru Valiba’ (did I spelt that correctly?) to other folk songs that I can’t remember the name but I have heard before.

I have to say, being quite impartial here, their performance was quite good.

Yeah sure, there was the usual ber-teraboh dance steps like when they were supposed to do that little 1 step left 1 step right dance schimmy thingey.

There’s the very red splotchy blusher, red eyeshadow, red lipstick & little red flower in the girls hair that is all very much alike the Wayang Cina pekji.

But over & all the accoustics were good, the notes were not pitchy or off sounding & they looked like they had lots of practice & have been doing performance for ages. And they actually look good on stage lah!

(oh who am I kidding, I am being unimpartial. Can’t blame me, it’s my sister performing aite! so proud…*grins*)

Look at them looking so pro!

So when do I come in??

Like a pro

End of performance.

But my lil monkey being, well, my lil monkey, the 1st thing she said during the intermission break & while rushing to me was, “My lapar! diorang cuma kasi nakan burger dengan fries, itupun tak sedap jadi Umai tak makan kasi habis. Tak Sedap!”

(translated: I’m Hungry! They only gave us a burger & fries that doesn’t taste good so I sisn’t finish my food. Not Nice!)

:P

Yeap, that’s what she said word for word. Sighs, little monkeys.

At the end when she got back home, she wallop a small bowl of Indian Rojak & a 1/2 a packet of Chicken rice before forcefully (as usual) going to sleep at 11.30pm.

She has another day of performance today.

And guess what? She was so tired from yesterday she somehow psychoed my mum to let her sleep in today & not go to school! Shrewd eh? heeeheee
