“I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair.77’ & 69’ revolution was in the air. I was born too late, to a world that doesn’t care. Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair. “
I can so relate to this lyric from a song by Sandy Thom, ‘ I wish I was a punk rocker’ . It’s basically a song about a girl who thinks she’s better of living in the era of the 70s or 60s when believing in a cause means standing up for it and not just being passive about it. I believe I mite be born in the wrong era. I think I would be very comfortable living in the 40s or 50s when men were gentlemen and women were ladies in all sense of the word from their dressing to the way they speak and act. There is just something so innocent and perfect about that era that really appeals to me. Not forgetting the fact that the music of that time was also one of the best.
Now I am not the typical pro demonstrative riot & rally kinda person but I do believe in doing something about what you really believe in. Even if it’s something as insignificant as covering your mouth when you couth, it is still a cause worth believing in and practicing in your own little way.
So what if the world does not know about you and whatever it is that you do.
So what if you’re not a celebrity who commands the attention of millions around the world.
So what if you’re not the President of some rich powerful country who can pull the votes of dignitaries from all around the world and lead them by their noses.
What matters is you try, in your own little way to make others aware of what causes you believe in without pushing it in their face, and at the same time maybe, give them some knowledge about it and who knows, maybe someday they would be one of the advocators too.
The inspiration that makes me write these down was actually nothing of a big issue to others but it’s something that got me thinking. And when I think, I write.
